TPH #035 DisneyToday 9120 + Brilliant Prasoon Joshi

Last sunday I spent one full hour listening to a single song again and again and again. It is the title song of Taare Zameen Par. What a splendid song written by Prasoon Joshi and composed by my favourite trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Rendered with perfection by shankar Mahadevan with able support of Bugs Bhargave, Dominique Cerejo and Vivinenne Pocha. Beautiful poetic lyrics. Is Prasoon Joshi another in the line of Gulzar and Javed Akhtar? Would be early to say that.
(note - only internet explorer displays the hindi fonts correctly)
------------------------- [Edit 02 March 2008] What Mr Javed Akhtar has to say about this song (from an english website) ".....

  1. Thanks for comics. I like to use Opera 9.25 with Russian interface, & there is no problem with the hindi fonts. So, not only Internet Explorer displays .......

  4. i like S E L next to rehman, infact their music always reminds me of the great rehman.. shankar is a fantastic singer...

i like gulzar more then JA... but sometime he is very difficult to understand.. 116 chand ke raate ek tumhare kandhe ka til !!! what does he want to say? but i love his songs with rahul dev burman...

see, again i have started... i dont know where to stop when there is something about music,,

    thanks for the comic,,

  6. prabhat: even opera doesn't display all the hindi characters correctly. i myself use opera mostly.

dholey: thanks. i am experimenting with some templates. still not decided finally.

cw: prasoon joshi also wrote very nicely in rang de basanti. he has poetic touch in his songs even though he is from ad world.

icc: rehman is very good but i like s-e-l equally. the trio has originality. what about illaiya raja?

Gulzar is a lagend but now i like JA more. There was a time (some 12-15 years ago) when I almost worshipped Gulzar but not any more. He generally writes heavy and uses strange words but i feel it is more difficult to write simple and beautiful with same consistency for so long. What we see in others, whenever quantity is on increase, quality takes a low route. Not with JA.

well, i can try to explain what i made of 116 moonlit nights but i am afraid it will go so long. it's everyon's own perception.

I am very happy to see another music enthusiast in you.

IOB is under preparation. Sorry for delay. Actually i am working on mandrake strip numbers (deepwoods and xanadu are main sources) and there are many mandrake stories published in indrajals as second story. Their names also need to be added in IOB. this is taking much time.

CW: just testing few templates. then will start work on graphics.

The gap in the post occured when i used 'table' tag in html. this is a very strange thing(the gap) and i have not found any solution even after many attempts with html coding.

  7. tph,,

thT PHntom picture is hilarious!!! where did u get that?

116 chand ki raate means.. 116 months they were together, nasir and anuradha (maya?) 9 yrs and 8 months to be precise.. during that period she was searching his "kandhe ka til" but she could not find it.. thATS why she is saying " ek tumhare kandhe ka til" :))

but read this,, this is simply amazing....

’’Subah subah ek khwab ki dastak par darwaza khola,
dekha, sarhad ke us par se kuch mehmaan aaye hain.
Ankho se manoos the sare, chehre sare sune sunaye.
Paav dhoye hath dulahaye, aangan mne aasan lagwaye,
aur tandoor pe makki ke kuch mote mote rote pakaye.
Potli mein mehman mere pichhale salo ki fasalon ka gud laye the. .......... Aankh khuli to dekha ghar mein koi nahi tha.
haath laga kar dekha to tandoor abhi tak bhuja nahi tha.
Aur hothon par meethe gud ka zayka ab tak chipak raha tha. ............. Khwab tha shayd!! Khwab hi hoga.
Sarhad par kal raat suna tha chali thi goli.
Sarhad par kal raat suna hai kuch khwnabo ka khoon hua hai’’

    speechless!!!!

    illayaraja is simply superb,,,

i love his "sadma" songs. infact, i have his original "moondarma pirai".. what a movie!!!

  10. ICC: thT PHntom picture. Very good. This is a wallpaper I found on some site about three months ago.

well i'm not too sure whether maya is 'searching' for the mole. listen to the full antara [not mali ;-)]. she is remembering all the sweet but small moments they spent together. it is the part of some of those memories.

this nazm from marasim is awesome, specially listening in his own voice is amazing experience.

there is a long list of his great work. The last best nazm i heard is from movie 'Raincoat'.

    kisi mausam ka jhonka tha
jo is deewar par latki hui tasveer tirchhi kar gaya hai
    ...

i had smsed it to some of my friends.

sadma was fantastic. I also saw its original tamil version years ago on DD. it was even better. still remember the great sceneries and landscapes with mind-boggling performance of great kamal hassan.

recently when i was listening to saawariya title song i felt it to be very much like illayaraja's song from 'appoo-raja', woh to bana apana, nicely sung by s.p.bala.

  12. Hello TPH,
Really, it is very interesting. We both using same version, but results are different. May be my comp decided to compensate, how I miss India. Only idea coming is the Hindi language support is on my Windows XP (for Russian users). But what is the real reason, don’t understand. Tomorrow ask to my programmers, want to solve the mystery.
