Interesting mandrake story from indrajal comics. Marriage proposal for mandrake from a 'witch' but turned down as you would expect in favour of miss universe. TPH #029 Disney Today - 9102

A break from the normal suspense and thrills. Something funny this time from another supreme creator Walt Disney. This is from a series published in India by Living Media Publications between 1987 and 1993. They published it fortnightly in both english and hindi. I have quite a few of these comics. All are original purchases. Enjoyed them when published first but their true value came when got my first job in 1998. The first two months were difficult both physically and mentally. Then I picked these binded volumes and started reading once again. I used to be so tired that could hardly finish a single story (8-10 pages) before falling asleep, but that was enough to relax the mind. Donald and Beagle Boys are my favourite characters. TPH #028 Pret Ki Maya (part 2) - Phantom (Indrajal Comics #V20N43)

Its just turning out to be the same what I was speculating. Bhajji did say what we were joking about. If he admits this before the newzealand judge, then probably racial abuse charges would be withdrawn but a new controversy will be raised by Australian and British media and also some sections of indian press. But what did Symonds say to provoke him, not much talking about that. It is obvious that no batsman take initiative to start a verbal episode with a fielder, rather it is fielder's job to try and disturb the batsman's concentration.

Second part of the story. The ring finds its way to a small time kind hearted sweet natured maid and provides her an opportunity to find her prince charming. Wow. Fairy tale stuff. Its the simplicity of the stories that makes Falk an outstanding writer. They go down quite easy for all. This part also contains a Flash Gordon story.

TPH #027 Pret Ki Maya (part 1) - Phantom (Indrajal Comics #V20N42)

A real old classic. Nice tale about phantom's ring getting lost and passing through various hands. Each temporary owner utilising its power in own way. Some getting rewarded and some... First Published as strip: #S028 The Phantom's Ring 29 Oct 1950 to 10 Jun 1951 (33 weeks). First IJC publication: IJC #010 The Phantom's Ring (1965) [cover included is taken from ICC's post of covers. Possibly scanned by Ajay. Thanks to both.] The earlier IJC print was having 16 pages only. So they omitted a major portion of the story (about 60% was truncated). So enjoy this gripping tale in its full now.

Excellent colouring work by comic crazy

Friends, few days back comic crazy done colouring on two b/w mandrake strip pages for MTM. On taking a closer look, I felt it is a completely professional standard work deserving applause. I first wanted to congratulate him and say some praising words but then felt it will be more appropriate to dedicate one post for this fabulous work. So, here it is. Take a look at this stunningly beautiful colouring. I am really amazed at the quality. Probably he will like to share his experience with us. ----------------------------------------------   Controvery is continuing over 'monkey' comment. I am following some cricket blogs. Few really funny comments I came across. Take a look at these:

This is what happened . Harbhajan to Symonds "Oye pencho teri maan key". And Symonds thought he said "oye ^#% %*% &*))#%^$ )%^&%^ monkey" So symonds thinks he taunted him as a monkey.

Breaking News...The monkeys have taken offence at being equated with Symonds....They find it very disgusting that Harbhajan had insulted them. After The Australians left, the monkeys entered the room of the Match refree Mike Procter and told him in no uncertain terms that Harbhajan must be punished. And so, out of no where, came the three match ban for poor Bhajji.

TPH #026 Aksaru Dweep Par Durghatna -Vikram (Sun Comics V01N11)

This is another Indian character from an old comic publication. I recently found this comic while looking for IJCs on an old book shop. Though I had never heard of this comic before, but the names of the creators grabbed my attention. The writer is Jagjit Uppal (Bahadur fame) and drawing artist is Pradeep Saathe (Dara fame). This is a 1983 publication. There is another story of Inspector Garud inside this comic. This is a character I used to read as strip in "Saptahik Hindustan" years ago, I have faint memories of that. Initially it was called Inspector Eagle, later they changed the name. First time I am reading in comic book version. The stories are fairly ok. Artwork is very nice for an indian comic especially of the first story.
