TPH #058 Ateet Ka Karishma - Phantom - (Indrajal Comics V26N20)

cover page of 1979 issue of indrajal comics "The Swamp Dragon" (IJC #325)

1979 issue of Phantom Indrajal Comics, The Swamp Dragon is already available on net. (It was originally posted by TCP). The same story was later republished in indrajal in 1989 with hindi title "Ateet Ka Karishma". This is my today's post.

This is the story where Phantom first found Stegy, the stegosaurus. I remember reading the original 1979 publication with lot of enthusiasm and joy. Some of the panels where phantom is involved in training of the animal are still afresh in my memory. So, a bit of nostalgia associated with this story.

The later version of 89 is more or less similar with no noticeable changes in story and editing etc but there is certainly one thing which appears instantly. The colouring of Stegy is quite different in the two publications. The later one showing it in Dark Brown while the original scheme was to show it in Green, the colour we have become accustomed to, all along the indrajal journey, for this magnificent creature.

Adventures associated with "Eden" are always very exciting to read. Each of those animal was transported there under some unique circumstances and all of them have a different story to tell about their journey to this enchanting island.

Enjoy this one.

  6. Ashish: You are most welcome. I am very happy that you liked it.

Kuldeep: That's right. It was first published in indrajal with the title "Daldal Ka Danav". I too read it in 79-80 and was thrilled. These comics have a special place in our hearts as they make us remember the carefree childhood days. Great having you here.

Sagnik: You have got the original #325? That's a proud possesion indeed. Your collection is a real big one, which only confirms your fondness for these vintage classics. Congratulations.

And yes, you are right. I am showing a bit laziness in replying to the comments. That's a fault, I admit. Will try to reply in time in future.

And yes, I am having a holiday today. So first thing will be to scan those mandrakes in a single go. Sorry for keeping you waiting so long.

  10. Having a nostalgic feeling, could not express in words. It seems I am back to my childhood days. I had many of these but my mom sold all of them and I thought I will never get my treasure back. You gave my lost world back brother.

    Thanks a ton.
